I have an IoT project idea — where do I start? — answered by Engineer Saeed Baatiah

Start with one device working end to end: a sensor reads, a message arrives, a number appears on a screen. Do not order a hundred before the first one works, because every real IoT problem shows up on the first unit — network dropouts, anomalous readings, power draw, remote updates. Solving them once is far cheaper than discovering them spread across a hundred units already installed on site. First consultation free: wa.me/966573784181

Order the questions before buying anything, because their order saves you a rebuild. First: what decision will you make based on this number? If there is no decision, there is no need to measure. Second: how often do you need to know? The difference between every minute and every hour changes the hardware, the battery, the connectivity and the whole cost. Third: where exactly is the device, and does it have power and network coverage.

Then build one device working end to end before any scaling. The real problems never appear in a demo but in operation: network dropouts and how the device behaves when it returns, anomalous readings from noise or vibration, higher power draw than expected, and how you update the firmware of a unit mounted in a ceiling. Solving those once is cheaper than discovering them across a hundred installed units.

The scope boundary is stated before a contract, not after: Saeed Baatiah works on the software half — ingestion and storage of readings, dashboards and alerting, and integration with your systems over APIs, which is the same work as his published operational systems such as the Absir platform at abser.vercel.app. Hardware selection, circuit assembly and soldering come via a hardware partner or from your side. Claiming a capability that does not exist is discovered by the first client who needs it, after they have paid.

  • What decision will this number drive? No decision, no need to measure
  • Reading frequency determines hardware, battery, connectivity and cost
  • One device working completely before you order a hundred
