The platform’s reports are not enough — what can I do? — answered by Engineer Saeed Baatiah
Platform reports answer “how much did I sell”, while the question that builds a decision is “what deserves scaling”. A custom dashboard pulls your data and answers: profit per product after shipping and fees rather than its revenue, which marketing channel brings buyers rather than visitors, repeat-purchase rate, and which products get returned most. Those four numbers change how you buy and how you market.
The gap between revenue and profit is what overturns many decisions. A product selling well may lose you money after shipping, payment-gateway fees and its return rate, while one selling less may be what funds the store. Platform reports show revenue because that is what they know; actual profit needs your own data on cost, shipping and returns.
The four numbers worth a dashboard: profit per product after all costs, the source of each purchase rather than each visit (the channel bringing visitors may not bring buyers), repeat-purchase rate within ninety days, and return rate per product. The last exposes a description or sizing problem before it turns into negative reviews.
- Profit after shipping, fees and returns — not revenue
- Purchase source, not visit source
- Return rate per product exposes a description problem early
